单词 | 使苦恼 |
释义 | 〔ennui〕Were they alive today, users of Classical Latin might be surprised to find that centuries later a phrase of theirs would still survive, although in the form of a single word. The phrasemihi in odiō est (literally translated as "to me in a condition of dislike or hatred is"), meaning "I hate or dislike,” gave rise to the Vulgar Latin verb.inodiāre, "to make odious,” the source of Modern Frenchennuyer, "to annoy, bore.” In the Old French period a noun meaning "worry, boredom,” came from the verbennuier. This noun in its Modern French formennui was borrowed into English in the sense "boredom,” the English word being first recorded in 1732.People may have needed a word for boredom in the polite, cultivated world of the 18th century, but at an earlier period, around 1275,we had already borrowed the French verbennuier, the source of our word annoy. One of the earliest instances ofannoy in English is, in fact, used in the sense "to bore an audience.” annoy 在英语中最早的例子之一是它实际上是在“使观众厌倦”的意义上使用的 〔press〕To place in trying or distressing circumstances; harass or oppress.See Synonyms at urge 使处于困境:使处于艰难或痛苦的境地;使苦恼或痛苦 参见 urge〔excruciate〕To inflict great mental distress on.See Synonyms at afflict 使苦恼:使遭受强烈的精神折磨 参见 afflict〔plague〕To pester or annoy persistently or incessantly.See Synonyms at harass 使苦恼,烦扰:经常不断地打扰或烦扰 参见 harass〔hurt〕To cause distress or damage:使苦恼:使忧伤或引起损伤:〔excruciating〕Intensely painful; agonizing.使苦恼的:使人极痛苦的;烦恼的〔assail〕To trouble; beset:使苦恼;困扰:〔excruciate〕cruciāre [to crucify, torture] from crux cruc- [cross] * see cross cruciāre [使苦恼,折磨] 源自 crux cruc- [十字架] * 参见 cross〔hurt〕To cause mental or emotional suffering to; distress.受伤害,使苦恼:引起精神或感情上的痛苦;使忧伤〔harrow〕To inflict great distress or torment on.使困苦,使苦恼:使遭受巨大的悲伤和折磨〔molest〕To disturb, interfere with, or annoy.妨害、干涉或使苦恼〔scourge〕To afflict with severe or widespread suffering and devastation; ravage.使苦恼:以严酷或普遍的折磨和破坏使人痛苦;破坏〔ail〕To cause physical or mental pain or uneasiness to; trouble.See Synonyms at trouble 使痛苦:使…受身体或精神的痛苦或忧虑;使苦恼 参见 trouble〔ferret〕To hound or harry persistently; worry.使苦恼:不断地折磨或打扰;使烦恼〔distraught〕alteration of distract [past participle of] distracten [to distract] * see distract distract的变化 distracten的过去分词 [使发狂,使精神错乱;使苦恼] * 参见 distract |
