From Portuguese the word made its way into French (pétun ), from which English borrowed the word (petun remains an archaic word for tobacco). The name of the genuspetunia was formed in New Latin (1789) from French pétun because of the close relationship of the petunia genus to tobacco. Englishpetunia, taken from Modern Latin, is first recorded around 1825. 来自现代拉丁文的英语词petunia 首次记录大约出现在1825年 〔podophyllin〕From New Latin Podophyllum [genus name] 源自 新拉丁语 Podophyllum [属名] 〔plecopteran〕From New Latin Plecoptera [order name] 源自 新拉丁语 Plecoptera [种类名称] 〔saury〕From New Latin saurus [lizard] 源自 新拉丁语 saurus [蜥蜴] 〔rasbora〕New Latin Rasbora [genus name] 新拉丁语 Rasbora [属名] 〔medieval〕From New Latin medium aevum [the middle age] 源自 新拉丁语 medium aevum [中世纪] 〔polygala〕New Latin Polygala [genus name] 新拉丁语 Polygala [属名] 〔scaphoid〕New Latin scaphoīdēs 新拉丁语 scaphoīdēs 〔nautiloid〕From New Latin Nautiloidea [subclass name] 源自 新拉丁语 Nautiloidea [亚纲名称] 〔hexapod〕New Latin -poda [-pod] 新拉丁语 -poda [后缀,表“足,节肢”] 〔pileum〕New Latin pīleum 新拉丁语 pīleum 〔campylobacterosis〕New Latin Campylobacter [genus name] Greek kampulos [curved] bacter(ium) 新拉丁语 Campylobacter [属名] 希腊语 kampulos [弯曲的] bacter(ium)〔tetra〕Short for New Latin Tetragonopterini [group name] 新拉丁语 Tetragonopterini的简写 [种名] |
