At one time in England all criminal proceedings were included in the coroner's responsibilities.Over the years these responsibilities decreased markedly, but coroners have continued to display morbid curiosity. In the United States, where there is no longer the crown, a coroner's main duty is the investigation of any sudden, violent, or unexpected death that may not have had a natural cause. 在美国,已不再有国王,验尸官的主要任务是调查任何突发的、剧烈的或预料不到的,大概无自然原因的死亡〔try〕To examine or hear (evidence or a case) by judicial process.审问:通过法律程序审查和审理(证据或案例)〔lynch〕To execute without due process of law, especially to hang, as by a mob.以私刑处死:不经过正当法律程序处死,尤指被暴民绞死〔doctrine〕the legal doctrine of due process;法律程序原则;〔plead〕To make or answer an allegation in a legal proceeding.抗辩,答辩:在法律程序中作出或进行辩解〔litigate〕To subject to legal proceedings.起诉:置……于法律程序之下〔interpleader〕A procedure to determine which of two parties making the same claim against a third party is the rightful claimant.确定权利诉讼:一种决定在对第三方提出相同要求的双方中谁为合法请求者的法律程序〔sue〕To institute proceedings against (a person) for redress of grievances.提出诉讼:通过法律程序起诉(某人)谋求公正〔pleading〕pleadings The consecutive statements, allegations, and counterallegations made in turn by plaintiff and defendant, or prosecutor and accused, in a legal proceeding. pleadings 起诉状,答辩状:在法律程序中,分别由原告、被告或检举人和被检举人所做的连续的供述、辩解和反辩解〔tortuous〕tortuous legal procedures.复杂的法律程序〔eject〕Evict most commonly refers to the expulsion of persons from property, as for failing to live up to the terms of a lease, by legal process: Evict 通常指通过法律程序将某人从地产上逐出,如当此人不能达到租约上的条件时: 〔counterclaim〕A claim filed in opposition to another claim, especially in a legal action.反索赔,反诉:对另一诉讼进行的诉讼,尤指法律程序中的〔speed〕To further, promote, or expedite (a legal action, for example).促进,增加,加快(如法律程序〔foreclosure〕The act of foreclosing, especially a legal proceeding by which a mortgage is foreclosed.抵押品赎回权的丧失:取消抵押品赎回权的行为,尤其指取消收回抵押品权利的法律程序〔litigate〕To engage in legal proceedings.提起诉讼:参与法律程序,打官司
