单词 通行
释义 〔ticket〕To provide with a ticket for passage or admission:为…购票:给一张票使能通行或被接收:〔ketchup〕The wordketchup exemplifies the types of modifications that can take place in the borrowing process, both in the borrowing of a word and in the borrowing of a substance. The source of our wordketchup may be the Malay word kēchap, possibly taken into Malay from the Cantonese dialect of Chinese.Kēchap, like our word, referred to a kind of sauce, but a sauce without tomatoes;rather, it contained fish brine, herbs, and spices. The sauce seems to have emigrated to Europe by way of sailors, where it was made with locally available ingredients such as the juice of mushrooms or walnuts. At some point, when the juice of tomatoes was first used, ketchup as we know it was born. However, it is important to realize that in the 18th and 19th centuriesketchup was a generic term for sauces whose only common ingredient was vinegar. The word is first recorded in English in 1690 in the formcatchup, in 1711 in the formketchup, and in 1730 in the formcatsup. These three spelling variants of a foreign borrowing remain current.ketchup 自由移动或通行〔cover〕To travel or pass over; traverse:通行,经过;穿过:〔sentry〕A guard, especially a soldier posted at a given spot to prevent the passage of unauthorized persons.消兵:一名守卫,尤指在某一给定位置站岗防止未批准人员通行的士兵〔roadblock〕A barricade or an obstruction across a road set up to prevent the escape or passage, as of a fugitive or enemy troops.路障:如阻止叛逃者或敌军通行的关卡等横跨公路设置以阻止逃跑或通行的障碍物〔impassable〕Impossible to pass, cross, or overcome:不能通行的;不可逾越的:不可能通行、穿越或克服的:〔road〕An open, generally public way for the passage of vehicles, people, and animals.路:一种通常供车辆、人和动物通行的可通行公共道路〔currency〕the currency of a slang term.一个俚语词语的通行〔current〕Prevalent, especially at the present time:通行的:流行的,尤指眼下流行的:〔boom〕A barrier composed of a chain of floating logs enclosing other free-floating logs, typically used to catch floating debris or to obstruct passage.栏障:一种由一连串浮木连着别的自由浮木而成的障碍物,特别用于拦截漂浮残骸或阻止通行〔passport〕Something that gives one the right or privilege of passage, entry, or acceptance:引荐物或保证物:给与某人通行、进入或被接纳的权利或特权的东西:〔livre〕A money of account formerly used in France and originally worth a pound of silver.里弗尔:旧时通行于法国的一种记帐货币,值一磅银子〔travel〕Activity or traffic along a route or through a given point.游行:沿某一条路或通过一点的运动或通行〔drawbridge〕A bridge that can be raised or drawn aside either to prevent access or to permit passage beneath it.吊桥:可以提升、放下或拉到边上以便通行或阻断的桥〔through〕Allowing continuous passage; unobstructed:通行的:连续的通道的;没有阻碍的:〔lira〕A basic unit of currency in Italy, Malta, San Marino, Turkey, and Vatican City.
